There are many reasons to get an influenza (flu) vaccine each year:

• Flu vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones against flu and its potentially serious complications.
• Flu vaccination can keep you from getting sick with flu.
• Flu vaccination has been shown in several studies to reduce severity of illness in people who get vaccinated but still get sick.
• Flu vaccination can reduce the risk of flu-associated hospitalization.
• Flu vaccination is an important preventive tool for people with certain chronic health conditions.
• Flu vaccination helps protect pregnant people during and after pregnancy.
• Flu vaccine can be lifesaving in children.
• Getting vaccinated may also protect people around you, including those who are more vulnerable to serious flu illness, like babies and young children, older people, and people with certain chronic health conditions.

Trivalent Flu Shot

A trivalent influenza (flu) vaccine is for those ages 6 months and older. It is designed to protect against three different flu viruses, including two influenza A viruses and one influenza B virus. The vaccine uses killed (inactivated) flu virus.

High-Dose Flu Shot

Fluzone High-Dose Trivalent is a three-component (trivalent) flu vaccine approved for people 65 years and older. The High-Dose vaccines contains a higher amount of antigen (which helps your body build protection) than the standard trivalent flu shot. The higher dose of antigen in the vaccine is intended to give people 65 years and older a better immune response to vaccination, and therefore, better protection against flu.

Bring your insurance card with you! Most insurance plans cover the cost of the flu vaccine. All insured patients are responsible for confirming their flu vaccination coverage with their insurance company.

For uninsured or underinsured, the flu shot is $20. No one will be turned away for the inability to pay.

CCHHS also holds flu clinics at various community locations throughout September and October. These events are open to everyone 6 months and older! Bring your insurance card. If you do not have insurance, you will not be turned away. For uninsured the cost of the flu shot is $20.
