This page is specific to helping adults quit using tobacco and to providing education and information about health risks from smoking and using other tobacco products. You will find useful information, quit tips and links to help you through the tough process of quitting tobacco.
Remember, quitting tobacco is one of the toughest things you will ever, but it has the greatest reward... life.
Smoking Prevalence Among Adults
Tobacco use is the chief preventable cause of illness in the US. It is responsible for 1 in 5 deaths every year. It is also responsible for having a known role in oral, throat and lung cancer, coronary heart disease, low birth weight and peripheral vascular disease (CDC, 2005c).
The good news regarding smoking prevalence among adults in America is that it is currently 19.5%. It is at an all-time low. The bad news is that it is 19.5%. This means that approximately 20 out of every 100 people still smoke, while the other 80 people are still being affected by the secondhand smoke that is created from this minority.
All is not lost. We have resources to help you quit. We have resources to educate the public of the dangers of tobacco use, secondhand smoke and the difficulty facing those who choose to quit. We also have resources for support. If you are interested about any of the programs we have or just simply have a question or want information, give us a call at 283-7520.
