Public Health Preparedness (PHP) means planning and putting in place programs to respond quickly and effectively to threats endangering the health of the public. Some of these threats are West Nile Virus, pandemic influenza and food-borne illness. Carson City Health & Human Services is working with its partners in the community, neighboring counties and the state to assure the most effective response possible to outbreaks of disease and other public health threats and emergencies. The PHP Program is funded entirely by federal grants from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), awarded through the Nevada State Health Division. CCHHS applies for the funding each year in order to continue to upgrade, integrate and evaluate our emergency-readiness. |
