Marena Works, RN, MSN, MPH

Director

Marena is the Director for Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS), a position she has held since June, 2008. Previous to this position she worked as the clinic manager for CCHHS and as Chief School Nurse for the Carson City School District from 2001-2005. Marena earned her Master’s of Nursing and Public Health in 2007 from the University of Nevada, Reno and her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 1995. She holds an Advanced Practitioner of Nursing license and certification in Public/Community Health Nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  Marena serves on the Nevada Public Health Foundation Board;  School of Community Health Sciences Advisory Board  (UNR); Maternal Child Advisory Board; and the Health Information Technology Blue Ribbon Task Force.

Roni Galas, RN

Program Manager Clinical Services

Veronica Galas, RN, BSN is a community health nurse and sexually transmitted disease clinician. She graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.  Her professional experience has included work on a heart specialty unit, federally qualified health center and now public health.  Her Midwestern roots fostered interests in gardening and Cornhusker football.  After moving West to Nevada ten years ago, she has become an avid hiker and bicyclist.
